Sokoine University of Agriculture does it again, Wins Big at Economic Empowerment Exhibitions held in Morogoro, Tanzania

Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) has always remained focused in fulfilling the University mandates. In undertaking the outreach function, SUA has once again won 1st Prize in Education and Higher Learning Institutions category at Economic Empowerment Exhibitions titled “5th Empowerment Funds and Programmes Exhibition” held at Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro.

The awarding ceremony was conducted at the climax of the exhibition on 14th May 2022. The closing ceremony was officiated by Hon. Dr. Ashatu Kijaji (MP), the Minister for Investment, Industry and Trade who represented the President of the United Republic of Tanzania H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of SUA, Prof. Raphael Chibunda could not help joyfully jumping to his feet from the high table to receiving awards from the guest of honor Dr. Kijaji. Three awards were presented to SUA including a trophy and certificate for the 1st winner, and a certificate of participation to the exhibitions.

The victory is a testimony of character that SUA has always in theory and in practice sought to innovate knowledge, innovations and technologies to continue holding leadership in academic, research, outreach and provision of services to various stakeholders within and outside the country.

Initially, the event was officially opened by Morogoro Regional Commissioner Ho. Martin Shigela on 8th May 2022 on behalf of the Minister for Investment, Industry and Trade Hon. Dr. Kijaji. At SUA, the coordination role for participation in the event was done by the Institute of Continuing Education (ICE), which is headed by Prof. Dismas Mwaseba, the Director, ICE.
